In 1999, there was precious little to report, very sadly. Really Louise did extremely little. She was featured in the odd magazine, but not even really many of them. She released absolutely zero songs, which was very disappointing for all her fans up and down the country. Sadly her fanbase has subsequently decreased. In fact, the most publicity she got in the year was really from the FHM Sexiest Woman in the World poll, where she somehow managed to come second: incredible due to the lack of publicity that she has had in recent times. She was also in the papers because of her husband, Jamie: apparently his Dad had said that a woman's place is in the kitchen! Oh dear, Harry. Louise was asked whether she was worried that Jamie would grow up to look like his Dad. All very mean and unfair, of course!!
Louise, immediately back in the country after her wedding, performed at the Party in the Park, arranged by Capital FM. More than twenty acts performed in Hyde Park, in front of more than 100,000 screaming fans. Reports of her performance vary: she did very well in the vote at the
Capital site, and Capital apparently has said that Louise did perform live. Following are a few views taken from the Louise mailing list: Some who attended were less than convinced by what Capital apparently said; some said she mimed, whilst some said she not only mimed, but did so badly: one or two people said it was the worst miming they have ever seen, and, infact, that Louise made little visible effort to please the crowds. However, if she did mime, then whilst she should ideally perform live, it is not exactly unusual for artists to do so; and Louise had been very busy in recent times before getting married and embarking on her short holiday. She is between albums at the moment, and to be fair, some artists do disappear from the face of the earth when they are not promoting their latest offerings. If anyone has any additional info about the Party in the Park, or pictures taken at the event, I would be very appreciative of any contributions.Previous Top Stories
Rumour has it that Louise will star in one episode of Us Hit Comedy show Friends. She will play a cameo role as an 'English Diva'. The episode is scheduled to be filmed later in 1998, with its first airing being on American TV sometime next year in the US (probably Spring 1999). This story has yet to be confirmed or denied, to the best of my knowledge.
Some completely unconfirmed rumours have been circulated which suggest that Louise will adopt a change of style for her third album, which should be out later this year. Instead of the more soulful melodies aka Eternal-style, Louise, it is alleged, will change to what has been described as a more 'hardcore' style. Apparently, she will also put less emphasis on her home (UK) market, and will concentrate on the US and Asian markets, where the serious money is there for the taking. This is said to be in an effort to align Louise with the image that more groups are beginning to adopt as the millenium reaches its end. Management are thought to have denied this story as, well, untrue.
